The Lure Behind the Look

The beauty queens of the seven seas!

Mermaids are enticing, eye-capturing creatures that are known for their great beauty. Although a sight to behold, the mermaid is manipulative and dangerous in nature. These creatures lurk in the murky waters of the sea waiting for sailor’s ships to pass by. When the fateful day comes that a ship may pass, the mermaid sings her song, enticing the sailors aboard to throw themselves over the deck and into the deepest depths of the ocean.

For this Halloween makeup look, I wanted to capture the charm of the mermaid without the carnage. The mermaid, portrayed by me, is an alluring, lovely predator. She does not show her sharp teeth nor her evil intentions. For the time being, her goal is to appear delicate and mysterious.

Makeup Tutorial and Product Overview

On the eyes, I used BH Cosmetics’ Ultimate Matte and Aurora palettes. This mermaid eye makeup includes matte colors–aqua, pink, magenta, and yellow. Lastly, I topped off the yellow with a gold shimmer to make the eyes pop.

As per usual, the skin is concealed with Milk Makeup’s Flex Foundation Stick

. For this look, I wanted to look glowy so I didn’t set the skin with powder. The cheeks are veiled in Juvia’s Place Vol. II Blush Palette which is blended upwards into the outer V of the eyeshadow. There is a shimmer blush in Vol. II that worked perfectly as a highlighter on the high points of my cheeks and ball of my nose. If you don’t own this palette, I highly recommend you try this palette out; it has a great variety in shades and amazing pigmentation.

To add structure to my round face, I brushed Milani Baked Bronzer in shade Soleil across the forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and in the contours of my cheeks.

Overall, I love how this look came out! It’s fresh, soft, and avant-garde. This mermaid makeup is perfect for a quick last-minute Halloween costume!
